November 8th, 2024
Hello BGVA families,
We are continuing our theme of Gratitude this month; Monday, November 11th is Veterans Day. This is our opportunity to show gratitude for all Veterans who gave an oath and prepared to protect the rights and freedoms of our country.
To all of our Veterans; our nation celebrates you this Monday and I want to express my gratitude for your sacrifices and service. Thank you.
Please remember; Monday, November 11th is a National Holiday and all schools will be closed.
Thursday November 14th from 5:00-6:00 PM
is our next Online Success Family Workshop - click to join
We are putting this at the top of our newsletter because we believe this workshop is very valuable for continued success at the online school of BGVA. Feedback from our September Workshop was very positive with families getting information they found very helpful.
This Online Success Workshop will have breakout sessions with specific grade band teachers who will discuss in detail grade level expectations, tips & tricks and best practices for success.
Please, mark your calendars and plan on attending this valuable Online workshop. You will be receiving additional information from your teachers and advisors these next weeks leading up to the Workshop. I look forward to seeing you there!
Family/Parent Portal - Imagine/Edgenuity
Parents/Families and Guardians, this Family/Parent portal is becoming a very useful tool for families to stay current with their students' academic progress. As we come to the end of the month, I highly recommend creating a Parent profile on the Family portal website. It is another way to support your student’s success. To get your Parent Portal Activation Code: please email your request to mehr.mercedes@battlegroundps.org and klein.kathleen@battlegroundps.org
Our new weekly contact/attendance system is up and running. You will be receiving current information from our attendance staff. This is communicated through the School Data platform to help our families stay informed of students' attendance. We thank you in advance for reviewing this informational tool to help us ensure accuracy.
With the possibility of inclement weather, BGVA is now designated as a South school. Moving forward; this means we will follow the BGSD South school schedule when there are snow days or changes in the regular school days.
Check emails regularly: It is very important for students and families to check emails frequently. This is our main form of communication and we do not want you to miss any important details your family may need.
Here are a few other important items for you to consider:
As a BGVA student, you are eligible to participate at your local middle or high school for their after school activities; such as sports, drama, band and other activities. Studies show that students engaged in extracurricular activities have better attendance and higher grades. Make sure you reach out to your local school or contact your BGVA advisor if you have any additional questions regarding these opportunities.
